Our ambition is to develop a new, completely safe and non-invasive endoscopic capsule-based system for gastrointestinal observation and diagnosis of abnormalities and diseases, capable of recording and imaging the entire gastrointestinal tract, which can be easily used by the patient at home while physicians can monitor the results in real time.
Here’s everything we think you should know.
Capsule Endoscopy is a procedure that uses a pill-sized capsule with a tiny wireless camera. As the capsule passes through your digestive system, it takes thousands of pictures that are sent to the recording device. Later, the doctor will be able to view these pictures and will provide you with useful information regarding your small intestine.
To prepare for the procedure you will be asked to stop eating and drinking approximately twelve hours before the examination. This allows the camera to capture clear images of your gastrointestinal tract. In some cases, you may be asked by your doctor to swallow the laxative to further improve the quality of the pictures.
Most common diseases that can be examined by capsule endoscopy are Crohn’s disease, celiacs disease, small bowel tumors and anemia of unexplained origin.
Our endoscopy capsule is only 11 mm wide and 23 mm long.
